Notre organisme a ouvert ses portes en 1989 gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une initiative d\u2019un des centres de femmes \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al. Des travailleuses de ce centre ont constat\u00e9 un grand manque de ressources en mati\u00e8re de logement pour les femmes voulant rompre avec une situation de violence et ont mis en place un projet en collaboration avec diff\u00e9rents partenaires. C\u2019est alors que s\u2019est consolid\u00e9e l\u2019id\u00e9e de logements temporaires pour r\u00e9pondre aux besoins de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 des femmes aux prises avec le harc\u00e8lement de leur ex-conjoint, tout en leur permettant d\u2019assurer une d\u00e9marche d\u2019autonomie.

\n\nD\u00e8s nos tout d\u00e9buts, le conseil d\u2019administration de Nouvelle-\u00c9tape a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 que, faute de financement, les services de soutien aux femmes et aux enfants \u00e9taient pr\u00e9caires. De ce fait, le conseil d'administration a pris comme d\u00e9cision de demander au centre de femmes d\u2019en assurer l\u2019enti\u00e8re mise en \u0153uvre. Ceci sera possible gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ce centre de femmes qui a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque \u00e0 aller chercher du financement pour ce projet.

\n\nEn 2018, avec le travail acharn\u00e9 de l\u2019Alliance des maisons d\u2019h\u00e9bergements de 2e \u00e9tape pour femmes et enfants victimes de violence conjugale posts\u00e9paration, nous recevons officiellement notre premier financement sur la base de notre mission globale. Nous enclenchons alors le processus de consolidation et de bonification de nos services, notamment concernant le volet milieu de vie communautaire ainsi que le soutien sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 en services sociojuridiques.

\n\nEn 2019, le financement pour les maisons d\u2019h\u00e9bergement de deuxi\u00e8me \u00e9tape devient officiellement r\u00e9current, ce qui nous am\u00e8ne \u00e0 entamer une r\u00e9flexion strat\u00e9gique avec le centre de femmes. C\u2019est en juin 2020 qu\u2019une d\u00e9cision officielle quant \u00e0 l\u2019autonomie de Nouvelle-\u00c9tape est prise. \nLa violence conjugale posts\u00e9paration c'est quoi ?

\n\u00ab C'est la violence conjugale qui se manifeste sous toutes ses formes en contexte post-s\u00e9paration. On entend par contexte post-s\u00e9paration le moment o\u00f9 la femme prend la d\u00e9cision de mettre fin \u00e0 la relation et qu'elle s'inscrit dans une d\u00e9marche de r\u00e9organisation de vie et de reprise de pouvoir. C'est une p\u00e9riode o\u00f9 les strat\u00e9gies de domination et de contr\u00f4le de l'ex-conjoint se transforment, se multiplient et perdurent, exposant ainsi la femme et ses enfants \u00e0 un plus grand risque d'atteinte \u00e0 leur s\u00e9curit\u00e9 (physique et psychologique) pouvant aller jusqu'\u00e0 l'homicide \u00bb (L'Alliance des maisons d'h\u00e9bergement de deuxi\u00e8me \u00e9tape pour femmes et enfants victimes de violence conjugale posts\u00e9paration)

Intersectionality is an inclusive feminist approach that acknowledges the intersection of the systems of oppression through which a person may find themselves. In other words, in addition to acknowledging that the patriarchal system oppresses women, the recognition of other systems of oppression (classism, racism, homophobia\/transphobia, ableism, ageism, etc.) makes the understanding of women's experiences more inclusive and accurate.
